Barcelona Named 'Team Of The Decade' !

Barcelona has been named ‘The World’s Club of the 1st Decade’ (2001 to 2010) by the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History & Statistics) this evening. This represents a tremendous achievement by our club and is formal recognition of how well we've done over the last decade.

Cesc talks about Barcelona exit

Asked about why he left Barcelona in 2003, Arsenal midfielder and Spain international Cesc Fabregas (22) has said in an interview with television network Gol TV that the club didn't really believe in him:

"At Barça, they used to renew your contract every year and there were players like Leo, Piqué and others who they really believed in.

I was average, not good, not bad. I was there but I wasn't one of those they expected to have a big future. They believed more in others than in me. So I decided that the best thing was to move, to change."

Andres Iniesta: The Rise And Rise Of Barcelona's Football Genius

It has come to a point that every football lover around the world seems to agree with what I have known for many years: Andres Iniesta is a gift to football, a legendary symbol of what it means to be Blaugrana and living the dream from a very early age.

I was privileged enough to witness Andresito’s arrival at La Masia, as my cousin also played for the Barça Under-11s at the time – which, as you can imagine, we are and still are very proud of in my family!

It was another ordinary autumn day, or so we all thought. My cousin had attended school as he always did, then got picked up by the Barça van in the El Valles area (which is the regular mode of transport for youngsters who don’t live in La Masia, such as Cesc or Xavi, regularly used to access the Mini Estadi training area).

Javi Martinez and Jordi Alba

7. Javi Martinez:  In my opinion, the best player Barca could attempt to buy this summer. Definitely needed to reinforce our defense, the Tower of Bilbao is experienced at playing at the highest level, able to play in many positions and has played around Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Puyol and the other Barca internationals with Spain for a while now.

8. Jordi Alba: Another sure buy. I believe the deal has already been closed, despite lack an official confirmation from both clubs. Could be our new left-footed Dani Alves. I love his spirit and aggressive nature. Also a Spanish international, will definitely be in Del Bosque’s squad for the Euro 2012. Plus, don’t forget this very sharp left-back came from Barca’s La Masia in the first place!

Barcelona on next season

We were all thrilled when our M-V-P strikeforce (Messi, Villa, Pedro) all scored in our Champions League Final victory last May. Sadly, we may have seen the end of this combination as a regular partnership. The signing of Alexis Sanchez was an indication that that was always likely to happen. David Villa's serious injury in Japan coupled with Pedro struggling for form this season has accelerated the process.
This reason I am writing this is that I read a report that Robin Van Persie (RVP) was a possible transfer target of Barcelona. Naturally, RVP has also been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester City. I supposed you haven't really made it as a footballer until you are linked with one or all of these clubs. Personally, I hope RVP stays at Arsenal. Arsenal fans absolutely adore him and world football needs a strong Arsenal. Besides, we already have plenty of talented forwards.

Cugat: “Villa is progressing very well”

Cugat: “Villa is progressing very well”
Barcelona-based orthropaedic surgeon Dr. Ramon Cugat spoke to Catalan radio station Ona FM on the recovery of Ibrahim Afellay, Andreu Fontàs, and David Villa, whom all appear to be well on their way to full match fitness.
Villa, who recently climbed La Mola, a 3,000-foot mountain outside Barcelona, broke his leg in Barcelona’s Club World Cup semifinal victory over Al Sadd Sports Club and has remained out of action since December.
Cugat spoke optimistically about the striker and said Villa “is progressing very well. The tibia can be operated on, but that decision must be made by the player. We have seen that (Villa) has made a very good call. He has good range of mobility and good muscle tone. He’s lacking a bit more calcification, but he is doing fine.”
